MasterChef fans think they know exactly who will win the 2025 season, with viewers making the huge prediction based on one of their biggest frustrations. Eagle-eyed audience members have noticed that Laura Sharrad is getting way more airtime than any of the other contestants this year, leading them to conclude that it is the Adelaide chef who takes home the grand prize.

“Why is there so much focus on Laura?” one viewer asked on Reddit. “Just a curious question, I’ve only been watching [MasterChef Australia] from when Diana won, and I don’t really have much context of the previous seasons, but every episode, she has a considerably longer screen time than almost anyone else.”

One person suggested the reason was that producers are “desperate for her to finally win”.

“It’s pretty clear they’re setting her up as the winner,” someone else agreed. “Third time lucky and all that.”

While we have to wait and see if the viewers’ prediction about Laura is correct, the 29-year-old certainly has the support of some of her co-stars from the Back to Win season.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle about who she thinks will come out on top, Cath Collins says, “I thought I was brave going back a second time, I’m in awe of Callum, Sarah and Laura going back a third time. I would love to see one of them win.”

Adds Rue Mupedzi, “I can’t pick one person. I love all my friends! I’m rooting for Theo and Declan as my fellow Season 15 alumni, as well as Ben, Depinder, Laura, Snez and Darrsh. At the end of the day, everyone is a winner being asked to come back to MasterChef Australia.”

Other viewers had thoughts about where Laura’s career may go after her stint on the 17th season of the cooking series, “When the season started, I did expect extra focus on the three returnees (Laura, Callum and Sarah). Except you sometimes forget the other two exist unless you see them on screen.

“At this point, I won’t be surprised if she comes as a judge in future seasons,” they added. “I really want to see more Samira, Depinder, Andre and Ben.”

Others agreed that they could see Laura coming back to the show eventually as a judge, with many upvoting the post, and one person adding, “Agree!”

While many people expressed their appreciation for Laura and her obvious culinary talents, others couldn’t help but express frustration that the edit was so heavily focused on her.

“I understand she’s a good chef and one of the oldies, she grew up on the show etc etc but skipping entire dishes made by others just to talk about her dish for so long is kind of frustrating,” one viewer wrote.”

“Some days, there are interesting dishes like Depinder’s or Alana’s and I really wish we could see at least a few steps of it,” another comment reads. “I hope the production reads our thoughts and gets it corrected. I would love to see everyone even if it is for half a minute. Like the relay showed everyone and it was a great episode.”

However, others defended Laura, with one fan saying, “I think she’s charismatic, a great narrator and very versatile chef. I don’t think she only cooks pasta like people often complain here, even if that’s her specialty. She has always gotten a lot of hate.

“Unfortunately, a young woman who is confident, happy, and witty equals smug for a lot of people.”
