One of The Block’s most notorious villains returned to the reality show in Wednesday night’s episode to unashamedly stir the pot and cause some drama amongst the cast. Kristy Beames, who competed alongside her husband Brett on the Hampton East season in 2023, went around to each house to playfully interrogate the teams on their relationships with their co-stars.
The contestants were clearly taken aback when Kristy asked about who they were friends with, whether they were fighting with each other, and who this year’s villain was, with many viewers questioning why she was invited back. While the show presented her cameo on account of Brett being friends with Robby, she tells Yahoo Lifestyle that it was actually the show’s producers who asked her to make an appearance.
“The funny thing is, no one is ever just in the neighbourhood in Daylesford. I’m going to be quite firm on that particular one,” she says with a laugh. “It was in the works, we were in Melbourne, and it just kind of timed up. So we got a car and headed on up for the day, and it was great to see the cast and meet the contestants and kind of get a vibe from it.”
The moment that didn’t air on TV
Kristy reveals that although it wasn’t shown on TV, she was prompted by the producers to tell each of the contestants that they shouldn’t be trying so hard to look good on camera in the hopes that it would help sell their house on auction day.
“One thing that didn’t go to air was that it was very well driven in that we were to talk about how Adrian [Portelli]’s not coming to save you, stop trying to get a good edit. That was a key insight that we received, that everybody was on their best behaviour trying to get a good edit,” she details.
“If history repeats itself, I guess these people were thinking Adrian only picks his favourites or the people with a good edit to win. But we really drove it home that you’ve got to make the best house rather than the best edit this year, and that’s a key point.”

Kristy reveals her favourite team
Speaking about her favourite contestants on this year’s season of The Block, Kristy admits that she and Brett are rooting for House 3’s Britt and Taz to win
“We love Taz, he was really nice. I’m wholeheartedly backing Taz and Britt for the win,” she shares. “We didn’t actually meet Britt; she was out shopping, but Taz, he’s just a lovely human, and that is not an edit; he truly is.
“Also, Emma and Ben were really lovely. They would be my front-runners for sure.”
Kristy adds that she didn’t get to spend much time with Han and Can because there were a few issues on site that pulled them away, but they “seem fine”.
“They seem nice enough,” she remarks. “I’m not really watching their edit. I have been told they’re not getting a great one, which sucks and is never good for them, but they were nice to us.”
Would Kristy and Brett return to The Block?
While fans might assume that Kristy and Brett’s brief return to The Block may have sparked a desire to return to the competition in the future, she admits it had the “complete opposite” effect.
“It was so long and drawn out with retakes and stuff like that, and when we left, I said to Brett, ‘I don’t think I could do that again’,” she recalls. “Like, my care factor would just be non-existent, because I would be almost more relentless on not giving a s**t how the edit goes, or what they captured and what they don’t.
“I just had no filter this time around, and yeah, I wouldn’t be able to do it again, to be honest, if I tried.”
Kristy teases that there will be some drama coming up later this season, which may or may not have been the result of her stirring the pot.
“I can confirm that based on what I’ve heard, there is some cheating happening, and I think from us being there, it does spark a bit of fire in everyone,” she says. “The next couple of weeks are a little bit chaos. So I’m not going to say we did that, but look, the timing is impeccable.”
