Farmer Wants A Wife viewers were left fuming on Monday night after seeing Farmer Thomas farewell one of his girls in a “very awkward” way. Some fans even suggested he was “reciting a script.”

Jess, who joined Thomas on the farm a few weeks after Clarette and Rachael with fellow intruder Laura, decided to stop wasting her time and told the farmer she was ready to leave. Her decision came after Thomas revealed to Clarette and Rachael that he had been texting and flirting with Claire, who left the farm early in the show.

Thomas stumbled over an apology that felt a little half-hearted, with Jess telling him, “It was pretty s**t to be honest, from my end, I don’t know, it just kind of made me feel pretty unsure about a lot of things.”

She said it was hard to realise that she was competing with not only the women on the farm but also with someone who wasn’t even there any longer.

“It’s just hard when you want a little bit of reassurance that you actually want me here,” Jess told him.

Thomas said it was hard as he’d formed strong connections with Clarette and Rachael, as they were on the farm earlier.

“Coming in a little bit later was challenging,” Jess told the cameras. “Having to build those connections a lot faster, maybe the other girls had more time to do so. I like to take my time and you just can’t in this kind of experience.”

“I mean I guess it just feels like, why am I here?” she asked him.

“I’m sorry I made you feel that way,” Thomas mumbled.

“I’m not going to keep staying around, vying for attention, when it’s elsewhere,” Jess said, adding she didn’t mean it in a negative way.

Thomas offered… silence, before finally saying, “I’m sure you’ll find someone pretty amazing and all that, maybe a gold medalist or something, not just a farmer.”

“Thanks for the opportunity of meeting you, you’re an amazing woman, wish you the best of luck in finding love and all that,” he said.

They hugged and said goodbye, and, interestingly, not long after that, Thomas told Clarette, “I’m definitely here for the right reasons. I’m here for you.”

So, good luck to the other two girls, who are still around for seemingly no reason.

It came as no shock after this declaration, that Thomas then chose Clarette for the next date.

Fans were left shocked by Thomas’ reaction to Jess leaving and then telling Clarette that he was still on the show just for her.

“He’s lost me tonight – weak,” one viewer wrote on Facebook, while another agreed, “Same here. I can’t watch this show.”

“He can’t even put a clear sentence together,” a third wrote.

“Good on you, you dodged a bullet,” someone else said about Jess.

“The farmers this season are an awkward bunch,” another said.

“He was so awkward when he farewelled her,” one viewer agreed. “He seemed to be reciting a script.”

“This was hard to watch tonight,” yet another said. “Very awkward. I’m not sure what they see in Thomas, his group apology was just bizarre…If he said ‘I guess’ one more time.”

“Funny how the ladies all seem to leave Thomas right before he asks them to go,” one person pointed out.

“This poor lovely girl was left for herself to do the farewell,” another said. “Gutless that he didn’t speak up first.”

“Did he even ever say hello to her?” someone else questioned.

“He made no effort to make her feel as if she hadn’t wasted her time,” one person wrote.

Others described it as a “train wreck” and that he was “stringing along” the other girls when he’d already made his decision.
