The Surprising Way Sean Hannity Fell In Love With His Ex-Wife And Why She Was Warned To Stay Away From Him

If most people got the chance to anchor the news even for one night, chances are they would completely embarrass themselves. After all, even if they were completely familiar with all of the topics they were asked to talk about that night, news anchors often verbally spar with people expressing alternative views to their own. When most people are met with eloquent and passionate people angrily expressing views they disagree with, they struggle to respond.

Given the fact that reporters rarely seem bothered by the things people say to them on the air, it can be hard to think of them as being human beings just like the rest of us. In reality, however, news anchors are just people. For example, even though Tucker Carlson is extremely rich, when he isn’t on camera he spends time at home with his family. Similarly, Carlson’s co-anchor Sean Hannity once was married and it turns out he fell in love in a surprising way and his wife was warned to not get involved with him.

Whenever someone becomes famous, there are certain things that they have to know come along with that. For example, even if they go to great lengths to keep their personal lives a mystery, there are always going to be rumors popping up about them. In fact, when a star goes years without there being any rumors about them dating anyone, some people use that as ammunition to start rumors about them.

Since Sean Hannity isn’t a movie star, people likely wouldn’t expect there to be a lot of talk about his love life like all of the rumors about the people Keanu Reeves has dated. Despite that, in recent years there have been a lot of rumors about Hannity dating his Fox News co-anchor Ainsley Earhardt. Even though Hannity and Earhardt refuse to acknowledge they are a couple, from all accounts that seems to be the case. However, long before Hannity and Earhardt got together, he walked down the aisle with another woman.

After Sean Hannity and Jill Rhodes met in 1991, the couple walked down the aisle together in 1993. Once the couple was wed, Hannity and Rhodes welcomed a son named Patrick and a daughter named Merri into the world. Sadly, after many years together, Hannity and Rhodes announced the end of their marriage in 2020. Around the same time, it was revealed that Hannity and Rhodes had actually been separated for years before that.

Even though Sean Hannity and Jill Rhodes’ marriage came to an end, it is still fascinating to look at how their relationship began. In this day and age, it is very common for people to fall for someone they haven’t met in person yet thanks to the advent of online dating. Back when Hannity fell for his wife, however, that kind of thing was a lot less common. On top of that, when people did meet through personal ads back then, at least they would get to know each other by communicating through letters.

According to what Sean Hannity told Newsmax in 2011, he didn’t need to meet Jill Rhodes in person or have any kind of communication take place between them to fall for her. Instead, once Hannity read something Rhodes wrote for a local newspaper and saw the picture of her that appeared alongside it, he fell for that image of her. “She was really talented — gifted, but I really just fell in love with the little picture in her column.”

Why Sean Hannity’s Wife Was Warned To Stay Away From Him

In the same Newsmax article in which Sean Hannity spoke about falling for his wife Jill Rhodes, they touched on something she told People about her first impression of him. After Hannity and Rhodes met for the first time at a 1992 mayoral debate, she was instantly taken with him. “I looked at his face and I said, ‘That is the man I’m going to marry.’”

Even though there are a lot of different opinions about people falling in love at first sight, based on what Sean Hannity and Jill Rhodes have said, it seems like that happened for them. However, in the aforementioned Newsmax interview, Hannity revealed that despite their initial attraction, things weren’t that simple for the couple. The reason for that is simple, Hannity revealed that Rhodes was warned not to marry him.

“Everyone that she worked with at her newspaper warned her not to marry me. ‘You mean that guy on the radio?’ Because it was Huntsville, Alabama, and I’m Sean, the New York talk-radio [guy].” If Jill Rhodes’ co-workers being against her relationship with Sean Hannity wasn’t enough, he revealed that even their pastor was against their marriage. The reason for that is during their pre-marital counseling, Hannity got into a political argument with the pastor. “He said, ‘You’re crazy to be marrying this guy,’ because I started arguing about how the church has become too liberal. And I think she left that meeting in tears.”
