He might not have been the most technically skilled performer on this year’s season of Dancing With The Stars, but Osher Günsberg was undoubtedly one of the most entertaining. Between his brightly coloured outfits, animated facial expressions, and tense exchanges with the judges, the TV host gave it his all when he hit the dance floor.
While he was eliminated in Sunday night’s episode, narrowly missing out on a spot in the semifinals, Osher and his partner, Sriani Argaet, had two more dances prepared if they were to continue in the competition. He tells Yahoo Lifestyle that his next routine would’ve been a Viennese waltz, and his finale performance was set to one of the most iconic pop songs of all time.
“Should we have ever gotten there, there was one at the very, very end, and I convinced them to do Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’,” he reveals. “And it was going to be us on bicycles against a background that was moving to pretend that we were moving on bikes, but not riding on bikes.”
Osher says the show’s music director allowed him to choose the songs for all of his performances this season, except the Viennese waltz.
“The waltz was the only one I lost my fight for the music on,” he explains. “We went for a Leonard Cohen song. But hey, four out of five ain’t bad!”

Osher’s parting words
Fans noticed when it was announced that Shaun Micallef would be going through to the semifinals over Osher, he whispered something to Sriani.
When asked about what he said, the former Channel 10 star shares that his parting words to his partner, choreographer, and friend, were: “Thank you so much for getting me here”.
“She’s an incredible teacher and so patient, and I’m a lot to deal with,” he remarks. “She managed to keep me on task and teach me so many skills, and she was just so patient and just so delightful to be around, and she showed me so much. I was just whispering and saying, ‘Thank you, you did an amazing job’.”
Osher’s next reality TV appearance
Having completed his first stint as a reality TV contestant after previously hosting The Bachelor, The Masked Singer and Australian Idol, Osher admits there’s only one other show he would want to take part in.
“I said yes to Dancing With The Stars because it was one of the things that I wanted to do for a long time, because dance has been a big part of my life since my step-daughter Georgia’s been in my life, and I really wanted to show her how much she means to me by doing this thing that means a lot to her,” he details.
“I think to be on this side of the equation again, it would be Survivor or Survivor. I’ll need to do about six months of SAS training – if only there were a show for that! It’s such a great format. I think I might suck at the game, though, but I’d really love to play it.”
