The 4 Nations Faceoff is finally set to begin in a few hours, and we are closely watching what happens with our Montreal Canadiens players.

Why Sam Montembeault's Canadiens breakout is not surprising to those that know him best - The Athletic

Yesterday, we saw the first lines and pairings of the Canadian roster.

The next question now concerns the goaltenders.

Who will be Canada’s number one goalie? Will it be Montreal Canadiens’ goaltender, Samuel Montembeault?

We may already have an answer, but an official announcement from Team Canada is still awaited regarding the crease.

Samuel Montembeault would be Canada’s third goaltender, and there will be no rotation in net

Let’s hope this changes, but it seems unlikely that we will see Samuel in Canada’s net.

The hierarchy appears to be set.

«Hagel, Point, Marchand, Bennett, Jarvis, and Cirelli are wearing white.

McDavid, MacKinnon, Marner, Crosby, Stone, Reinhart in red.

Hill and Binnington are currently in net, Montembeault is watching.

I don’t see Travis Konecny.»

It’s worth noting that both Hill and Binnington have Stanley Cup rings, so that likely carries some weight in the decision.

One thing is certain: an official announcement is still pending.

Additionally, Team Canada’s head coach, Jon Cooper, has confirmed that there will be no goaltender rotation.

There will be a designated number one goalie, and that goalie is expected to have a heavy workload.

«There will be no goalie rotation for Team Canada. Jon Cooper will inform his goaltenders tonight about who will start on Wednesday.»
