If SKA is eliminated, Kent Hughes and the Canadiens could try to negotiate with them to bring Demidov over to finish the season in the National Hockey League, but that remains an unlikely outcome (at least based on what we understand).
SKA reportedly intends to possibly send Demidov to finish the season in the MHL, in the junior ranks over there, which would be ridiculous, but would also prevent the Canadiens from bringing him over right away.
Demidov, only 19 years old, recorded 49 points in 65 games with SKA this season, including 19 goals, and finished as the team’s top scorer, despite highly questionable usage all season and many games where he played only 2-3 minutes.
In the playoffs so far, he has five points in 10 periods of play and scored a beautiful goal in today’s game.
