The Block has come a long way over 22 years and 21 seasons.
In Episode 16, Scott Cam pointed out that this year’s Blockheads are building Main Bedroom suites with a 50 square metre floorplan.
That’s compared to Season 1 of The Block where the entire house the first contestants were renovating had a floor plan of 70 square metres.

From layouts to locations, it’s safe to say the hit reno show has gotten bigger and better over the years.

What has the budget on The Block been like?
Back in Season 1, the contestants had a budget of just $40,000 for their whole renovations.
Even considering inflation, that wouldn’t cover the backyard transformation on this year’s Block.
In 2025, the teams have a total budget of $250,000 and a $40,000 PowerPass from Bunnings to renovate their houses.
The 2025 budget is looking pretty generous now. (Nine)
Of course that’s not including cash prizes won along the way.

Who have been The Block judges?
It’s hard to imagine the weekly Room Reveals without our beloved trio of judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox, but the judging panel has changed over the years.
In the earlier seasons of The Block, real estate expert John McGrath was the founding judge while long-time judge Neale Whitaker joined the show in 2010 before leaving in 2024.
