A bombshell trade proposal has erupted in the Montreal Canadiens’ sphere, one so audacious it could instantly alter the team’s trajectory and force Kent Hughes into a franchise-defining decision. In a stunning four-piece deal floated by a prominent analyst, the Canadiens would acquire a Stanley Cup champion and proven top-six center, Nazem Kadri, from the Calgary Flames. This isn’t just another baseless rumor; it’s a meticulously crafted package designed to inject grit, leadership, and elite scoring into Montreal’s lineup immediately.

The mere mention of Kadri in a Habs jersey is enough to send shockwaves through the fanbase. However, the price for such a move is staggering, and it’s a cost that strikes right at the heart of the team’s future. The proposed deal would see Montreal sacrifice not only a coveted first-round pick but also two of their most promising prospects, including a young forward who many believe is a cornerstone of the rebuild. The analyst who crafted this deal believes it’s what’s necessary to land a player of Kadri’s caliber, but is the price of winning now worth mortgaging the future? The package is on the table, and it’s as tantalizing as it is terrifying.

It had been a while since we last had a trade proposal to analyze, so here’s one involving Joshua Roy and Nazem Kadri.

During a recent episode of Poolcast, featuring the excellent Pascal Cameron and Marco Normandin, Marco suggested a trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames.

Much like his segment Play GM, it’s simply a fun proposal meant to entertain and spark interesting discussions among fans.

Trade Proposal Sending Two Montreal Canadiens Players, Including Joshua Roy, to the Calgary Flames

This one would bring the talented center Nazem Kadri to Montreal.

“So, what would you give up to get Nazem Kadri?” – Pascal Cameron

“I think as a second-line center, he’d be perfect. I really think he’d be a good fit with the Canadiens, but he’ll cost a lot, and I wouldn’t be ready to overpay to get him, necessarily, since there’s no rush this year.

I’d offer, let’s say, a first-round pick, Adam Engstrom – who has good potential – and Josh Roy, who, we kind of want to move.”

What about you? What do you think of this intriguing trade proposal?

Would you trade a 1st-round pick + Adam Engstrom + Joshua Roy for the Flames’ forward Nazem Kadri?

Marco seems to believe it wouldn’t be enough and that the Flames would reject the deal, while Pascal thinks it’s too high of a price to pay!

And you?

Nazem Kadri, 35, is a 6-foot, 185-pound center who was drafted 7th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2009.

He’s recorded 67 and 75 points in his last two full seasons (both 82 games).

His best season came in 2021-22, when he tallied 87 points in 71 games with the Colorado Avalanche, including 28 goals – a pace equivalent to 100 points over 82 games.

He also lifted the Stanley Cup with the Avs before signing his seven year deal with the Flames which pays him $7 million per year.
