A lot of people are going to be feeling pretty nervous after the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft if Brandon Beane doesn’t walk away with a disruptive defensive tackle, but they shouldn’t. There’s talent all up and down the board.

One of the most underrated defensive tackles in the draft class, Nebraska’s Ty Robinson, is clearly on the radar of the Buffalo Bills.

I keep seeing Robinson going well into Day 3 in a lot of rankings and mock drafts, and personally I don’t understand it. At 6-foot-5 and 288 lbs, Robinson is a bit light for his height, but that doesn’t limit his power. He has heavy hands and a ton of production in the Big Ten, racking up 12.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, and showcased good instincts for getting his hands up with four passes batted down.

After a week at the Senior Bowl, Robinson continued his momentum at the NFL Scouting Combine. His athletic testing matched what’s on tape — he has plenty of speed and bend to pursue the play outside of the pocket. His testing was bonkers, putting up a 33.5″ vertical, 9’11” broad, 4.83 40-yard dash, with a very strong 1.71 10-yard split. We know how much Beane loves athletic players with work ethic. Robinson fits that all day long.

Robinson wouldn’t fit the need for the Bills to get a big interior anchor to take on double teams, but he would be a great selection as a rotational 3-tech with position flexibility. Even if the Bills do select a big 1-tech, Robinson could still be in their plan. Buffalo needs depth and versatility across the line, and Robinson, who lined up everywhere from the a-gap to outside the tackle, would answer that need.
