Adrian Portelli, the billionaire who purchased all five homes on The Block last year, has hit out at claims the show’s host, Scott Cam, told him not to return as a buyer this season. Scott told Sydney’s Nova 96.6’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie that he wanted Adrian to “give mums and dads the opportunity to have a crack at a Block house,” however, Adrian has refuted the remarks on his Instagram Stories, posting a screenshot of a Yahoo Lifestyle story and captioning it with, “Scotty, you’re talking porkies.

“I told you guys I was leaving. There was never a conversation of being told to sit out of this season.”

The LMCT+ founder then hinted, “Something big is coming,” before describing the Block homes as “hyped up, over-valued, multi-million dollar homes,” joking that this was “just what the average Australian family can afford”. Adrian then teased, “I’ve got a better idea.”

Taking to Instagram on Thursday morning, Adrian confirmed the major rumours that started swirling last year by revealing that he now has his own TV show with Channel 7 called My Reno Rules.

“Bet my high school teachers never thought… I’D HAVE MY OWN TV SHOW ON CHANNEL 7!” he wrote enthusiastically. “The reno game’s looking a little dusty. Time for a fresh coat. The gloves are off.

My Reno Rules – Coming to Channel 7.”

Channel 7 has issued a statement saying, “Coming to Seven and 7plus in 2026, My Reno Rules is a brand-new renovation competition that’s raising the stakes and flipping the script with two epic twists set to transform the lives of everyday Aussies.

“Hosted by Dr Chris Brown, My Reno Rules sees four hardworking teams of Aussie battlers going head-to-head, breathing new life into two neighbouring rundown houses in a picturesque Melbourne suburb. Their mission? To transform these properties into breathtaking homes for the chance to win life-changing prize money to secure their own futures.”

They added, “But it’s not just the contestants who walk away with the prize.

“In a must-watch television event, the live grand final will see two lucky Australians receive a life-changing call telling them they’ve both won a spectacularly renovated, multi-million-dollar home – fully furnished, landscaped and equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

“The live prize draw will be managed by principal program sponsor, Adrian Portelli of LMCT+.”

Adrian said, “LMCT+ has always been about changing the lives of everyday Australians, so when this opportunity came up with Seven, it just felt right. For me, it’s about giving back – and doing it in a way that’s big, bold and exciting.

“These homes are in a beautiful area and have real potential. With the right teams and vision, they’re going to be incredible. I can’t wait to be part of a show granting lucky Aussies a brand-new future, and inspiring thousands more along the way.”

Dr Chris Brown added, “The term ‘life-changing’ can get thrown around a lot on TV, but this is absolutely that. Imagine winning a brand-new home – that’s going to be the reality for two lucky Aussies. And if you’re a passionate renovator, you could also win a massive cash prize. With the dream of owning your own home still top of the list for most Aussies, I can’t wait to have a front row seat to that becoming a reality. It’s going to be a heartwarming ride!”

If you’re thinking the name sounds awfully familiar to Seven’s My Kitchen Rules, Seven Group Managing Director, Television, Angus Ross explains, “My Kitchen Rules is one of Australia’s most successful original formats and a powerhouse brand for Seven. My Reno Rules takes all the heart and heat of MKR and applies it to renovation.

“With showstopping house transformations, a life-changing cash prize for our winning team of renovators, and two multi-million-dollar dream homes up for grabs in an electrifying live grand final, we couldn’t be more excited for the premiere of My Reno Rules. It’s going to be next level!”

Adrian’s followers were quick to share their thoughts on the new TV show, with one person writing, “Finally something good on TV.”

“See ya later Block,” another said.

“Reno shows just got interesting,” a third quipped.

“The Block crying right now no houses are gonna sell,” someone else joked.

“Hope it’s more about the reno work and less about drama!” another said, poking fun at The Block.

“We’d love to see an actual reno show like what the block started as, not some rubbish soap opera like what it has become,” one other agreed.

“How to beat The Block... Become The Block,” yet another wrote.

Many others wrote that they “can’t wait to see it”, while some said they were ready to apply.

The exact air date is unknown, but the show is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
