Trade rumors are swirling once again in the NHL, and this time the spotlight is on two of the league’s most intriguing teams: the Montreal Canadiens and the Dallas Stars. According to trusted insider David Pagnotta, the Canadiens have officially opened negotiations with the Stars, setting the stage for what could be one of the most talked-about deals of the offseason.

At the center of these discussions is none other than Jason Robertson, Dallas’s dynamic young winger who has already established himself as one of hockey’s elite scorers. With Dallas exploring ways to clear cap space and Montreal eager to add a game-changing talent to their roster, the stakes could not be higher.

While no agreement has been reached yet, and the Stars’ management remains cautious about parting ways with a player of Robertson’s caliber, the mere possibility has fans and analysts buzzing with anticipation. As the situation develops, all eyes will be on both front offices to see if they can pull off a blockbuster that could reshape the future for both franchises.

The excellent insider David Pagnotta has just reported a very interesting piece of information involving the Montreal Canadiens and the Dallas Stars.

Check out what he said, and we’ll break it down after:

“According to a well-informed source, the Canadiens spoke with the Dallas Stars earlier, but talks have yet to result in a concrete deal.

Dallas GM Jim Nill has explored trade offers involving left winger Jason Robertson, but he’s still hesitant to move him.”

This is definitely intriguing.

The Montreal Canadiens Have Officially Negotiated With the Dallas Stars on a Trade

And all signs point to the target being none other than Jason Robertson.

It would make sense, as the Stars need to clear cap space – so a package involving draft picks and prospects (or low-salary players) could interest them.

We know they want to make a move on Mitch Marner, but to do that, they’d likely have to trade Robertson.

At 25 years old, Jason Robertson is a 6-foot-3, 207-pound winger who recorded 80 points in 82 games this season, including 35 goals. He has 394 points (168 goals) in 374 career NHL games.

That’s seriously impressive.

In 2023, he had 109 points in 82 games, including 46 goals!

Robertson makes 7.75 million per year through 2026, but he will be a restricted free agent (RFA) after that, so it’s not a long-term contract issue.

Where things might get tricky is figuring out how Kent Hughes can acquire a player like Robertson without including names like David Reinbacher – at the very least..

Definitely a story to watch!
