The news program airs at a similar time to the recently axed panel show.

In news that will no doubt thrill those missing The Project, Network 10 has announced on oe its regular hosts is joining replacement show 10 News+.

Georgia Tunny, says a statement released today, will bring “her passion for sport, news, and storytelling to the network’s brand-new news and current affairs program.”

“I’ve always been a fan of news delivered differently,” adds Georgie, “and am excited to be staying with the 10 family. Can’t wait to see where this new chapter leads!”

It was just days after announcing that Channel 10 was axing its primetime current affairs show The Project after a run of more than 15 years, that news of upcoming 10 NEWS+ hit the news.

Although it was rumoured that some panellists from The Project might be joining the new outfit, instead, the current affairs program was supposed to have a whole new team. Georgie joining certainly changes that!

Its main anchors are veteran journalists Denham Hitchcock and Amelia Brace. They will anchor from Sunday to Thursday. Fridays is anchored by senior journalist and news anchor Ursula Heger and national affairs editor Hugh Riminton.

Amelia left Channel Seven after 17 years to join the news team. She wrote in a post to her Instagram: “After 17 years at Seven it’s time for a new adventure, looking forward to delivering something different with the 10 NEWS+ team!”

Denham also shared the news on his Instagram. There, he noted that “And the plan is we will also be on the road full time which suits us just fine.” So, we can expect some roving reporting from the new show. Throughout his career, Denham has covered everything from the front lines in Iraq and Syria to mass shootings and presidential campaigns in the United States, where he was the US correspondent for Nine.

In a statement from Network 10, Amelia said, “Denham and I are not just presenters, we’re journalists. Between us, there’s little we haven’t covered. We’ll be sharing not just information but understanding. The facts, but also context and background. The 10 NEWS+ team is as exciting as it is exceptional. I’m looking forward to bringing together this wealth of experience to tell stories differently each night.”

In addition to the main anchors, the wider team includes Ashleigh Raper, Bill Hogan, Brianna Parkins, Samantha Butler, Carrie-Anne Greenbank, and Claudia Vrdoljak. Plus, the network’s entertainment editor, Angela Bishop, has joined. She reports on everything from red carpet coverage to in-studio interviews with celebrities and more.

In a statement, the network said that the show will deliver “comprehensive analysis, trusted reporting, and long-form investigative journalism”. The team will cover both local and international stories crafted for an “evolving media landscape.” So, expect 10 NEWS+ to show up on your social media feeds, and YouTube, in addition to broadcast and on-demand.

“And at the heart of everything we do is delivering news and current affairs that matter to you. No filler. No opinion. Just the facts,” said Martin White, VP News, Paramount Australia. “We’re going to do what we do best — put the truth first, our audience first, and tell important stories well.”

It will follow the local 5pm news bulletins and promises more depth and insight into the day’s biggest stories. So the news bulletins aren’t going anywhere!
