As the hockey world turns its attention to the upcoming World Championship, anticipation and speculation are reaching a fever pitch—especially among fans of the Montreal Canadiens. With the tournament set to begin on May 9 in Sweden and Denmark, Team Canada’s roster is coming into sharp focus, spotlighting both the stars who have committed and those whose decisions remain uncertain. Notably, while legends like Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon have already answered the call to represent their country, the status of Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki has become the subject of swirling rumors and intense debate.

A recent social media post by veteran journalist John Shannon ignited conversation across fan forums, suggesting that Suzuki, along with rising star Connor Bedard, may be reconsidering their initial reluctance to join Team Canada. Meanwhile, insider reports indicate that Suzuki’s hesitation might be less about regret and more about awaiting crucial medical clearance before making the transatlantic trip. With the tournament fast approaching and the final roster spots hanging in the balance, all eyes are on Suzuki—whose decision could not only impact Canada’s chances but also shape ongoing narratives about loyalty, opportunity, and leadership within the hockey community.

Over the past few days, Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon have accepted Team Canada’s invitation to represent the country at the World Championship.

The World Championship kicks off on May 9.

This year’s tournament is co-hosted by Sweden and Denmark, but when it comes to rosters, it was a post by John Shannon that raised a few eyebrows among Montreal Canadiens fans.

A Strange Rumor About Nick Suzuki Is Circulating Following a Post by John Shannon

As reported by the site DansLesCoulisses, the veteran journalist stated that Nick Suzuki and Connor Bedard might regret turning down Hockey Canada’s invitation to represent team Canada.

“With Crosby and MacKinnon heading to the Worlds, you have to wonder if Nick Suzuki and Connor Bedard are having second thoughts about turning Hockey Canada down.”

The problem is, the Canadiens’ captain has still not given his final answer.

On that note, insider Marco D’Amico mentioned that Suzuki is actually waiting for medical clearance before heading to Europe.

Is Nick Suzuki bitter toward Hockey Canada’s leadership for being overlooked during the Four Nations Face-Off back in February?

Maybe, but regardless, following the tournament in which Canada defeated the United States, the offensive production of number 14 spiked, as he tallied 37 points in 26 games.

Nick Suzuki isn’t the only Canadiens player who received an invitation to represent Canada.

Defensemen Kaiden Guhle and Michael Matheson were also invited, and Matheson accepted the challenge.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this over the next few hours – the tournament is approaching quickly.
