As the NHL offseason heats up, trade rumors are swirling with increasing intensity, and the Montreal Canadiens find themselves at the heart of one of the most intriguing proposals yet. With several teams, including the Vegas Golden Knights, looking to shed salary and reshape their rosters, a blockbuster trade scenario has emerged that could dramatically alter the future of both franchises.

The proposed deal, highlighted by RDS, involves notable young talents and established veterans, sparking debate among fans and analysts alike. With names like Kirby Dach, Joshua Roy, and William Karlsson on the move, the potential swap represents more than just a cap-clearing maneuver—it’s a gamble on untapped potential and immediate impact. As speculation grows, all eyes are on the front offices in Montreal and Vegas, waiting to see if this bold vision will become reality or remain just another offseason rumor.

Several NHL teams are currently trying to trade some of their players to clear salary cap space.

That’s the case, among others, with the Vegas Golden Knights, who will likely need some extra cap space in the event that Mitch Marner joins the team.

To make this happen, Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon will need to part ways with players earning significant salaries, and a proposed trade involving the Montreal Canadiens has just surfaced on social media.

Major Trade Offer Between the Montreal Canadiens and the Vegas Golden Knights Involving Kirby Dach, Proposed by RDS

Via its Instagram account, the television network RDS proposed a major trade offer involving multiple pieces:

To Vegas:

Kirby Dach, Joshua Roy, and the 49th pick in 2025

To Montreal:

William Karlsson and Alexander Holtz

Bringing in William Karlsson to the Canadiens would be a solid acquisition, as he could serve as a temporary solution at the second-line center position.

He is still under contract for two more seasons at an annual salary of $5.9 million, and with the Golden Knights’ depth, the Swedish forward might no longer have a spot in the lineup.

As for Alexander Holtz, it appears his career has yet to take off-even with a change of scenery.

He recorded only 12 points in 56 games with Vegas after a promising season of 16 goals and 28 points with the New Jersey Devils in 2023-2024.

That said, he’s still only 23 years old and could break out at any moment-or at least that’s the hope if a team decides to take a chance on him.
