A new young forward has just become immediately available to join the Montreal Canadiens organization as reinforcement. Should Kent Hughes sign him right away?

As seasons wrap up in various leagues, prospects are suddenly becoming available, and that’s the case with young Tyler Thorpe.

I’d be surprised to see him join the NHL as reinforcement, but if Kent Hughes decides to sign him immediately (like he did with Jacob Fowler), then Thorpe could become an option for the organization.

Upcoming Signing for Tyler Thorpe?

Whether it’s for the Montreal Canadiens eventually, or for the Laval Rocket, I believe Thorpe becomes a very interesting option.

“Another Canadiens prospect becomes available to make his debut with the Laval Rocket.

The giant Tyler Thorpe, who made a very strong impression at rookie camp, was eliminated last night with the Vancouver Giants.”

He could follow a similar path to young Florian Xhekaj.

This is definitely a situation to keep an eye on.

Tyler Thorpe, an Intriguing Power Forward for the Montreal Canadiens

Tyler Thorpe, age 19, is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound giant who was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, 130th overall.

This season in the WHL, he recorded 52 points in 68 games, including a solid 27 goals, and added 69 penalty minutes.

He also finished the season with a positive plus-minus of +11.

Last season, he had 44 points in 51 games, but with a negative plus-minus of -9.

We’ll keep you updated on this situation, but an announcement could literally come at any moment.
