The NHL trade rumor mill is spinning faster than ever, and this time, the Montreal Canadiens find themselves at the heart of a potential blockbuster.

The name Mason McTavish has been buzzing around Montreal all summer, but now, for the first time, a respected insider has confirmed something big is brewing.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has dropped a bombshell: the Anaheim Ducks have officially engaged in trade talks involving their talented young center, and the Canadiens are believed to be in the mix.

But what’s really going on behind the scenes? Why is McTavish, a rising star with impressive stats and a promising future, suddenly uncertain about his role in Anaheim?

And what would it truly take for Montreal to land such a coveted piece for their rebuild? The price tag is rumored to be sky-high, possibly involving top prospects like Michael Hage, David Reinbacher, or even Jacob Fowler.

As speculation mounts and debate swirls among fans and experts, one burning question remains: will the Canadiens make a bold move that could change their franchise forever?

With so much at stake and so many details still hidden, this story is far from over—and you won’t want to miss what happens next.

The well-known insider David Pagnotta (The Fourth Period) has just confirmed major news regarding a trade involving forward Mason McTavish.

McTavish, whose name has been linked to the Montreal Canadiens several times this summer, is reportedly uncertain about wanting to stay in Anaheim.. And, for the very first time, Pagnotta can confirm discussions with the Ducks about a trade involving McTavish. Wow!

David Pagnotta Confirms the Anaheim Ducks Have Recently Had Trade Talks Involving Mason McTavish

According the David Pagnotta, Ducks have spoken with “other teams,” and let’s just say we have excellent reason to believe that the Montreal Canadiens are among them.

Of course, everything depends on the price, which is likely to be quite high!

Things are heating up in this case!

Clearly, the Montreal Canadiens continue to closely monitor the McTavish situation.

Mason McTavish, 22, is a complete center, standing 6’2″ and weighing 220 pounds, drafted 3rd overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2021.

He has 140 points in 229 career NHL games, including 60 goals, and recorded 52 points in 76 games during the 2024-25 season, while playing on the third line and with limited power play time.

McTavish would quite literally be the perfect acquisition to complete the Canadiens’ rebuild, but acquiring him would be extremely difficult without including Michael Hage, David Reinbacher, or Jacob Fowler.

On that last name, the excellent Brian Wilde has sparked an interesting debate in recent hours.

And you, would you be willing to include Fowler in a trade for McTavish?
