The latest episode of the Montreal Canadiens’ rebuild documentary on Crave has delivered yet another wave of intrigue for Habs fans, peeling back the curtain on a series of dramatic trade discussions that could have changed the team’s future.

While much of the focus has been on Kent Hughes’ surprising consultation with Kaiden Guhle about a potential trade for a rugged forward, there’s an even bigger revelation that’s left everyone guessing.

Just before the trade deadline, the Canadiens reportedly received a blockbuster offer: a first-round pick and a player in exchange for one of Montreal’s “big names.”

The episode stops short of revealing exactly who was involved, but speculation is running wild. Was it Mike Matheson, Arber Xhekaj, or perhaps another fan favorite?

The identity remains a tantalizing mystery, fueling debate and curiosity among the fanbase.

What’s clear is that Kent Hughes ultimately turned down the deal, keeping the targeted player in Montreal—at least for now.

With the general manager already pulling off major trades for Noah Dobson and Zachary Bolduc, fans are left to wonder: is another major move on the horizon? The answers remain hidden, but the excitement is only building.

The most recent episode of the documentary on the Montreal Canadiens’ rebuild, available on Crave, is really interesting.

Since the release of Episode 4, we’ve learned that Kent Hughes consulted Kaiden Guhle about a potential trade for a rugged forward.

We’ve also learned about another trade that never materialized with the Predators!

But that’s not all!

The Canadiens were offered a trade involving a first-round pick and a player, in exchange for a big name in Montreal

Unfortunately, they don’t provide more details than that.

We know Kent Hughes was offered a player and a 1st-round pick in exchange for a “big name in Montreal.”

It could have been Mike Matheson, but it could also have been Arber Xhekaj!

Let’s not forget that last year, serious rumors circulated that the Philadelphia Flyers had made such an offer to the Habs in exchange for Xhekaj.

Now, do those two names count as “big names” in Montreal? That’s the question I’m asking myself..

This is really intriguing!

One thing is certain: Kent Hughes ultimately refused this trade, and everything suggests that the Canadiens player who was targeted here is still with the organization.

In the end, the Habs’ general manager later completed two impactful trades: one to acquire Noah Dobson and another to acquire forward Zachary Bolduc.

Is a third one in the works?
