It didn’t take long for Kent Hughes to get to work on this second day of the draft and at the start of the second round.

The Canadiens Announce a Trade to Move Up and Select Forward Alexander Zharovsky

We’ve got action!

First, the Canadiens completed a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes to move up in the draft order.

The Canadiens acquire the 34th and 189th overall picks from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for the 41st and 49th overall picks in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Then, with the 34th overall pick, the Canadiens selected forward Alexander Zharovsky from Ufa Jr. in the MHL.

The initial reactions to this Habs pick appear unanimous.. It’s an excellent pick, and all signs point to him being very high on Montreal’s draft board!

He was likely in their top 25!
