Imagine the Chicago Blackhawks icing a line of Connor Bedard and Connor McDavid? The Edmonton Oilers and Stan Bowman have yet to sign him to an extension, leaving an opportunity for Kyle Davidson to sign the disgruntled player.

Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers are at an impasse, it seems. General Manager Stan Bowman and the team have yet to begin negotiations for a new contract for the best player in the league.

Instead of pressing the matter, Bowman has remained hands-off and believes McDavid will come to the table in good faith when he’s ready.

During a press conference at Oilers practice:

“Today was the first time Connor McDavid implied that not signing with Edmonton is an option.

“All options are on the table. That would mean length of term. Short term. Long term. No term.”

If I’m an Oilers fan, I’m freaking out.”

McDavid stated:

“All options are on the table. That would mean length of term. Short term. Long term. No term.”

For Oilers fans, that last part is cause for concern. While he’s stated he wants to stick around in Edmonton and win. His bold statement reminds us all that players control their destiny.

Connor McDavid & The Blackhawks: A real possibility

Kyle Davidson could sign Connor McDavid to a deal should his negotiations fall through with the Edmonton Oilers next season.

Currently, they have enough cash on hand to get it done, with over $18 million available in space.

The only thing is that General Manager Davidson would have to sell McDavid on the vision here in Chicago. On the cusp of reinvestment in Fifth Third Arena, and a deep prospect pool, with hopes of a cup in the future, it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Keep in mind that NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun has stated that the Blackhawks are an ideal landing spot for the superstar.

For now, it’s a waiting game for the Blackhawks fans and McDavid, who is in no rush to sign a new deal in Edmonton.

Just imagine Connor Bedard & Connor McDavid on the same line!
