FRISCO — The Dallas Cowboys had been looking to revamp their quarterback depth for over a month. Following hints at various stages of the offseason, the Cowboys finally made their move this week.

TV Host Under Fire for Outrageous Dak Attack

Thursday morning, Dallas traded for former New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton, bringing in one of the league’s most intriguing prospects at the position into their locker room.

Drake Maye cemented himself as the team’s No. 1 quarterback last season and an offseason signing of Josh Dobbs made for a crowded quarterback room from Milton’s perspective. Now, he gets a fresh start in Dallas and the opportunity to grow behind a top 10 passer.

In the grand scheme, it is a minor move for the Cowboys. Had Milton not come to Dallas, they would have filled the spot with a late-round draft pick or a veteran free agent.

But out of the sudden move came ridiculous overreaction, none more outlandish than FS1’s LeSean McCoy who interpreted the move as a threat to Dak Prescott.

“I’ll just be honest man, listen. If Dak Prescott has a postseason like he’s always had going into next year, Dak, find a realtor,” McCoy said. “Because Joe Milton’s got talent, he can play. I’ll say this, y’all laugh and all that, I’ve seen other quarterbacks get paid a lot of money, and they move on from them.”

His colleagues on “The Facility” could not be drawn to anything other than laughter. That is because these musings are just babble.

McCoy, a former Philadelphia Eagles running back, has been the latest in the modern world of hot-take sports media who has hitched the bandwagon of misrepresentation when it comes to the Cowboys.

Nothing about the trade suggests any threat to Prescott’s claim as the starter, especially with the massive contract extension he signed back in September still front of mind.

Unfortunately for McCoy, Prescott’s job remains safe with the 2025 season looming ahead. When Milton takes the field and potentially impresses in the preseason, this drama may stir again.

Regardless, McCoy’s comments were designed to take away from what was finally a positive move from the Cowboys’ perspective. He may not have been fully successful, but these speculations from himself and others will continue.
