The Block’s foreman, Dan Reilly, has thrilled fans with an exciting announcement about this year’s season of the reality show. Dan, who competed on the series twice alongside his wife Dani Wales before becoming a permanent cast member in 2014, announced on Sunday that he had officially wrapped filming on season 21.

He took to Instagram to share a gallery of photos in Daylesford, Victoria, with Dani, as well as members of the crew and judges Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer. While he didn’t post any spoilers of the contestants’ finished houses, he did give fans a teaser on what they can expect this year.

“After 11 series as Foreman, it’s been a journey full of challenges, creativity, and the best team spirit you could ask for. From the early starts to the late finishes, I’m proud to have been part of another amazing season,” he wrote.

“Thanks to all the contestants, crew, and everyone who made this build one for the books. Can’t wait to see it all come together on screen! Bring on the next one!”

The Block’s executive producer, Julian Cress, announced in July last year that season 21 will be filmed in the country Victorian town of Daylesford. The 2024 season was originally set to take place in Daylesford but was forced to relocate in September 2023 – just five months before production was scheduled to begin – due to permit issues and complaints from locals.

“We’re going to do the show that we wanted to do [last] year and we’re really excited about [it] because, we think off the back of this kind of ‘seachange’ series that we’re doing in Phillip Island, Daylesford is just a beautiful country town,” Julian told TV Tonight.

“It’s the number one weekend destination in Australia. So again, I think it’s a town that will resonate with a lot of viewers and as a backdrop for The Block, it’s absolutely stunning and the community there is wonderful.”

Channel 9 is yet to officially confirm this year’s teams; however, leaked photos have revealed that the new contestants are Britt and Taz, Emma and Ben, Han and Can, Robby and Mat, and Sonny and Alicia.

Based on previous rollouts, the new season is expected to premiere sometime in August and run until November.

This comes shortly after Married At First Sight’s Dave Thomas Hand announced that he will be making an appearance on the upcoming season. He posted a photo of himself in May with Dan Reilly and tiler Adrian Cursio alongside the caption: “The block heads #crossover”

Although some fans speculated that Dave would be appearing as a contestant on the renovation series, he told Yahoo Lifestyle he only made a brief appearance as a tradesman.

“Pretty cool to get a photo with Dan to be honest, I’ve watched him for years,” he remarked. “I’m just there working and helping out some friends. Can’t say too much, but it was super fun. I’m just a tradesman working like all the other boys on site.”

Dave went on to say that he would love to compete on The Block one day alongside his MAFS co-star Billy Belcher, but he’s “not holding [his] breath”.

“I have other goals I’m currently focused on,” he shared, adding, “Dave and Billy on The Block does sound pretty cool though”.
