The name Kirby Dach stirred up a lot of discussion yesterday in Montreal, following the publication of Maxime Truman’s article.

As a reminder, Truman reported exclusively that Dach is not even fully recovered yet from his injury and knee surgery.

Knee surgery: Kirby Dach is not yet recovered.

Following that, an orthopedic surgeon did in fact comment, speaking to the excellent guys at HFTV.

An orthopedic surgeon comments on the duration of Kirby Dach’s absence following his injury

The injury in question occurred near the end of February. With that in mind, check out their post.

What I was told from an orthopedic surgeon: “Target for pros is 6-9 months but if it was a repeat surgery, the timeline is longer”

So he could still be on track to still start the season, but obviously, the sooner he gets on the ice, the better those odds will look.

That gives us a good idea!

Personally, even though it’s not ideal, I truly believe the Montreal Canadiens need to take their time with this case.

It’s really important to make sure Dach returns at 100%, and especially, to ensure there’s as little chance as possible of Kirby getting injured again.

While it would be ideal to have Kirby Dach in the lineup to start the season, what truly matters is having him healthy, fully recovered, and playing at 100% when it counts most – during the crucial playoff push at the end of the year.

At least, in my humble opinion.
