Following weeks of anticipation, Channel 7 has announced that Dancing With The Stars will return this month with 12 Aussie celebrities hitting the dance floor. The upcoming 22nd season will feature a variety of well-known TV presenters, actors, newscasters and sports stars competing for a charity of their choice, as well as the chance to win the iconic Mirror Ball Trophy.

It was revealed on Monday that the competition will premiere on Sunday, June 15, with Sonia Kruger and Dr Chris Brown returning as hosts. Sharna Burgess, Craig Revel Horwood, Mark Wilson and Helen Richey will also be sitting on the judges’ panel once again after working together last season.

One of the most revered contestants competing on this year’s season is film and television actress Rebecca Gibney, best known for her roles on The Flying Doctors and Packed to the Rafters. The Gold Logie winner previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that she was interested in appearing on Dancing With The Stars after having “so much fun” on Celebrity MasterChef in 2021.

Rebecca will be joined by fellow actor and TV presenter Shaun Micallef, Home and Away star Kyle Shilling, and comedian and The Office star Felicity Ward.

7NEWS presenters Karina Carvalho and Michael Usher are also competing for the Mirror Ball Trophy, as well as TV host Osher Günsberg, radio and podcast host Brittany Hockley, and social media personality Mia Fevola – whose parents, Brendan and Alex, have both previously competed on the show.

Rounding out the cast are Olympic swimmer Susie O’Neill, Olympic boxer Harry Garside, and AFL player Trent Cotchin.

While fans are excited to see this year’s contestants battle it out on the dance floor, some people have been confused as to why Robert Irwin isn’t featured in the cast photo.

The 21-year-old Wildlife Warrior recently announced that he would be appearing on Dancing With The Stars, however, this will be for the upcoming 34th season of the American version of the competition series.

Robert will be following in the footsteps of his sister Bindi Irwin, who won season 21 of the US reality show in 2015 at age 17. He will be paired with professional dancer Rylee Arnold, who competed with fellow Aussie Harry Jowsey on the show in 2023.
