Edmonton Oilers Evander Kane took to social media and the X platform stating that Winnipeg Jets radio host Jim Toth is a liar and hater after posting several fabricated stories about Kane.

Toth spoke on his radio show expressing his distaste when Kane did not participate in the handshake line after losing in the Stanley Cup finals and created a fabricated story about been with Kane playing for Kootenay in his rookie year.

«It wasn’t like you went in the order [of what line you were on the team], but it was just knowing that rookies let veterans go first, and he just walked right up front, and I thought of that when he didn’t come out to shake hands. Kane responded quickly in a tweet lane of several facts that contradicted what Toth was saying.

He explained that he did play one game for Kootenay in the last year of his junior he also won the memorial cup when he was 15 and he had never won an WHL championship.

The big take away from this incident was the fact that he called off a liar and a hater at the end of the tweet.

Kane was awarded a 10-minute misconduct right near the end of Game 6 against the Florida Panthers and did not return to the ice after the Panthers had won the Stanley Cup which had prompted many people to express their thoughts on the incident.

Questions remain around Kane as Oilers head to the offseason

Questions remain around the future of Evander Kane with the Oilers as the team to dissect their season and choose who will remain and who will go through trade or through unrestricted free agency.

Kane’s game faded In the Stanley Cup finals after he was dominant through the first three rounds how the playoffs. As the finals wore on, Kane ran into penalty trouble which cost him time on the ice and goals against the Oilers.

He holds one year remaining in his contract which has a value of $5.125 million and remains to be seen on what Bowman will do if he chooses to keep Kane or move him along to another team.

The off season is now in full swing and the first big event will be the NHL Entry Draft which will begin on June 27th.
