EXCLUSIVE: Each year, Scott Cam looks forward to this family visiting wherever his temporary home may be while filming The Block.

This year, it was even more special following the birth of his first grandchild, Tiggy.

Speaking to 9Entertainment, Scotty opened up on the life-changing moment he became a grandparent and revealed his “one condition” for filming The Block each year.

The beloved TV host became ‘Pop’ when Scotty’s son Charlie and his partner Amber welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Tiggy six weeks ago.

“My wife [Ann] and I are so excited to welcome her to the world, she’s extremely beautiful,” Scotty, 62, shared in an interview with 9Entertainment.

“We love the name Tiggy. And she was born with blonde hair, because both her parents are naturally blonde, and all the nurses were coming it to see the blonde baby because it’s very rare to have a blonde baby.”

At just six weeks old, Scotty said there was already a family resemblance.

“My 92-year-old mother reckons she looks like me as a baby and in actual fact, I feel as though she does look like me when I see pictures,” he laughed.

Scott has been based in Daylesford, Victoria for the past couple of months while filming the upcoming Season 21 of The Block.

After first flying to Sydney for a day to meet newborn Tiggy, Scotty spent two special days with his granddaughter when she, Charlie and Amber visited him on site.

With filming of The Block in its final few weeks, he had lots of grandparent plans for his time off.

“In two weeks, I’ll be home and looking forward to starting our relationship really, I suppose. I’m very excited to spend a lot of time with her and do that.

“It is a different feeling [to being a parent], it’s the next generation of your blood, and it’s quite surreal to be in that,” he said.

Being host of The Block was certainly a unique job, requiring Scotty to pack up and temporarily move to different locations for a few months each year.

Scotty said it was “a privilege” to live like a local and enjoy the many lifestyles across Victoria, with his only condition each year being that he needed a four-bedroom home to stay in.

“It’s got to be four bedrooms, because all my kids come and visit me, and their partners, for four or five days,” he explained.

Scotty and Ann have been married since 1992 and together have kids Charlie, 29, and twins Bill and Sarah, 25.

When he began as host of The Block in 2010, his kids would visit during school holidays, then it became during their uni breaks, then for weekends off work – and of course, now Charlie visits with Tiggy in tow.

“That makes my life a bit more normal. For me to have my family around me, that makes it great for me,” Scotty explained.

“They love to come down and see me and they miss me as well. We’re a very close family.”

For Block fans, Scotty shared some very exciting hints about what to expect from the upcoming Season 21.

“It’s a big build this one, and there are a few differences with this build that we haven’t done before so that will be exciting for the folks at home to watch,” he teased.

“And there’s a really big design element to this year’s show, and also some beautiful scenery showcasing local Daylesford food and restaurants.”

Consider us intrigued! We can’t wait to know more when The Block arrives on our screens later in 2025.
