Footage from the night he punched the wall has now been released

So, it turns out a lot was cut about Paul Antoine during MAFS Australia 2025. We really didn’t know much about the groom, or the scandals he got involved in.

The biggest controversy he had during the experiment was when he punched a wall in the apartment he shared with bride, Carina. At the time, lots of context was cut, but the couple stayed on the show after Carina declared a wish to continue. But that’s not all, apparently there was plenty more we didn’t see.

Here’s a full list of everything MAFS Australia cut about Paul, and the wall punch scandal with Carina.

MAFS cut the back story of the argument that caused Paul to punch the wall

On the show, we heard the argument that kick-started all the drama took place in the back of an Uber. Carina and Paul were travelling back from a dinner party, with Rhi and Jeff, and a rapper came onto the radio. Carina joked she’d slept with him, and when the couple got home, Paul punched a hole in the wall out of rage.

Speaking on her new podcast, Carina has shared more about what happened. “We were having so much fun. I put on a song and it was one with Quavo in it. I was like, ‘I slept with him’. It was funny and stupid, we all laughed about it. Paul laughed as well,” she said.

“Then when we get back to the apartment… Paul was so frustrated. He was furious, I could see he was upset. It was like he had steam coming out of his head. He was angry, pacing, heavy breathing. He had to go the balcony, I was thinking, ‘Okay this isn’t normal, something is up.’” Then the incident happened. Carina said he “got up and went ‘bang bang bang’.”

Posting a clip of the podcast interview to TikTok, Carina included some footage from in the taxi on the night.

Producers intervened to protect Carina

Carina was seen on camera saying she “felt safe” to be around Paul, after he punched a hole in their apartment wall. This came after producers stepped into to check she was ok.

According to Yahoo Lifestyle, Carina had chats with producers off-screen, who checked she felt as though she wanted to continue. An insider said producers “had to intervene” to ask Carina if she felt safe, which she did, before “repairing the damage he’d done to their apartment.”

Paul was put under strict instruction after the wall punch scandal

After it was agreed Paul could stay on the show, special measures and rules were put in place for him. “They gave us both the help that we were requiring,” Carina said. “He [Paul] was banned from alcohol for the rest of the series. They gave him therapy sessions every Saturday morning. There were a lot of things that had to come into place for it to be a safe environment.”

He also received external professional help

Speaking to 9Entertainement after the show, Paul revealed he saw a professional therapist about his anger. “I completely lost control that day. It’s obviously, of course, unacceptable behaviour. It’s not something you do, that’s not how you deal with emotions and it’s not how I deal with my emotions,” he said.

“I had to talk to someone on the outside, a professional, to actually talk about it and find some sort of peace as I was so mad and angry at myself for reacting that way. It was also sending the wrong message to Carina. I didn’t want her to feel unsafe. That’s the last thing that I would want.”

He has a past as a swinger?!

Carina also alleged on her podcast that Paul used to be a swinger. Apparently, the moment came up during the show, but producers axed it amid the punch incident.

“He openly said that he was into swinging with his ex-partner,” she shared. “I thought the boundaries were okay [to discuss our past sex lives]. Then he was just so upset and dramatic about the whole Quavo situation. I was trying to suppress and calm him down, I kept apologising. He kept saying he was embarrassed that I openly said that.

“I said, ‘But you openly said, on camera, for a national television show, that you had slept with swingers and did swinging with your ex, so I didn’t think [me sharing that story] was a bad thing. Where’s the juxtaposition between this? What is okay and not okay? You’re allowed to do that, and I just have to accept it? But when I say something about my past sex life, you have a massive blow-up?”.

Paul changed his wellness advisor job after controversy on the show

During the show, it was reported Paul had quit his job after the controversy. Paul had been working as a wellness coach for a company called Sodexo. He’s since had a complete career change. He’s now launching an online fitness empire, and has become a model.
