Farmer Wants A Wife viewers have been begging for the show to return to its more wholesome roots, and Monday night’s episode was no different. This year, the producers decided to bring in four new women for each of the farmers to meet, allowing them to bring some fresh faces back to the farm in their search for the right girl.

Each farmer had the opportunity to choose five women to bring home with them, with many viewers assuming that they would keep the participants they had already been developing relationships with, along with two of the newcomers. However, after being introduced to the his new potential love interests, Farmer Tom decided he didn’t see a future with one of his original ladies, Emma, and said goodbye to her early.

This left both her and the viewers shocked as the pair appeared to be getting along really well. In fact, just last week, Emma told him, “I like you a lot, I think you’re amazing.”

Farmer Tom sends Emma home

While Tom’s feelings weren’t certain, what was clear was that viewers loved watching Emma on-screen. So, when he sent her home, they weren’t happy about it.

“Emma and I – it’s just not going to work out between us, I’m just not feeling it,” Tom told the cameras. “Pressure’s on me to make a decision. I have to take five home, no one’s volunteered to go home on their own yet, so it’s all on me.”

Emma, having no idea that she’s about to be sent home, jumps at the chance for one-on-one time with Tom and tells the cameras she hopes she can get another kiss from him, only for the farmer to tell her, “I feel like it’s been good to get to know you, for sure, you have a lot of great qualities. But then, on the other side, I have other ladies that I’ve been getting to know too. Yeah, I feel like I have stronger connections with some of the others.”

Emma was left shocked, simply repeating, “OK.”

“I have to make tough decisions, like, it’s not great,” Tom awkwardly added. “You’re such a lovely lady.”

Tom then tried to tell her that her “special someone” was out there, and that she had a lot of “great qualities”.

Emma was very gracious, telling him she hoped he found his person in the group and she preferred to know earlier rather than later.

In what was perhaps the most awkward part of it all, he didn’t even hug her and just walked away, leaving her all alone.

They later shared a quick hug by the car as she left, but it appeared as though Tom couldn’t get out of there soon enough.

Farmer Wants A Wife viewers took to Instagram to share their thoughts on Emma’s farewell, and they were not impressed, with one viewer writing, “That was the worst thing I’ve ever seen on this show. Absolutely abysmal. Em, you’re extraordinary. You were so completely open and honest, and deserved much more respect from this man and the producers than what we just saw.

“Hope you’re smiling and happy now. That would have taken some getting over, but I’m sure you’ve left it well behind you.”

Emma responded, “I appreciate you.”

“He wasn’t that into her BUT he could have done that with SO much more dignity and respect for her,” another agreed. “I have no idea if he stayed for a bit or walked out like what the editing showed, and no hug or anything. So bad! Em, you’re a legend with a heart of GOLD. You’ll find your person.”

“Omg I was shocked by this! She was one of, if not, the best,” a third said.

“The producers should be ashamed of themselves,” someone else wrote. “It obviously hurt, but in time, you will be glad you dodged the bullet.”

“Omg that was so awful did he really just up and leave?” another questioned. “Emma you can do so much better than this. You will find the right man I just know it, one that appreciates your kindness & beauty inside and out.”
