The Block’s Robby and Mat became emotional on Tuesday night’s episode while sharing what makes their friendship special.

The Block’s Robby and Mat left viewers in tears after sharing some insight into what makes their relationship so important. The best friends from Adelaide were chatting to producers when Robby revealed he had received a video from his partner, Alyssa, of their son, Brooks, saying his first word: Dad.

Robby began tearing up and told the cameras, “It would’ve been great to see that.” He added that being away from his son was “so hard”.

When producers asked Mat how he supported his friend through moments like those, Mat also became teary, “It’s just being there rather than words, you know what I mean?”

“I’ve had some really shocking health through my life. I had half my lung removed years ago and Rob was in the waiting room when I woke up from my surgery,” he shared. “And then about six years ago I had my spine rebuilt, and Rob was there in the waiting room when I came out of surgery again.”

He said that he felt like he and Robby were there for each other in a way that was “better than a lot of relationships”.

“It’s just about being there and being available and being just a good loyal, honest person.”

Robby agreed, saying, “Yes, we miss our family, yes, I miss Brooks and my partner, and you miss your family, but you know, Mat and I are a family.

“We’re two best mates, we’re always by each other’s side. We’ve been through some s**t, we’ve had a lot fun and we’ll continue to do that.”

Many fans shared that they were emotional hearing about the boys’ friendship, with one viewer writing, “The boys made me cry tonight. Yes, I’m a softy.”

“Wow what a great friendship and how lucky to have that bond with someone, other than a partner, who you know has got your back no matter what,” another said. “Totally got me in the feels you two.”

“Rob and Mat have been my favourites from the beginning,” a third said. “Last night melted my heart, their love for each other and friendship is truly special.”
