In June 2022, Juraj Slafkovsky became the very first overall pick in the NHL Draft and officially joined the Montreal Canadiens.
Today, the young forward receives big news, as he is honored with a major award in Slovakia.
Juraj Slafkovsky played his first season in the NHL in 2022-23, recording 10 points in 39 games.
However, the left winger has shown strong production over the past two years, tallying 38 goals and 101 points.
The forward has been working extremely hard in training this summer and aims to have an outstanding 2025-26 season. At just 21 years old, he shows a great attitude and wants to continue improving.
Despite the arrivals of Zachary Bolduc and Ivan Demidov, the site Daily Faceoff believes Juraj Slafkovsky will remain on the first line alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.
They share great chemistry: Suzuki had an incredible 2024-25 season with 30 goals and 89 points, while Caufield also excelled with 37 goals and 70 points.
If the chemistry continues on this line, it’s not impossible to see the captain reach 100 points, while Caufield could hit the 50-goal mark. As for Slafkovsky, he is targeting 70 points.
Juraj Slafkovsky Named Player of the Year in Slovakia After Strong Season with the Montreal Canadiens
At a gala held in his home country to honor Slovakia’s hockey stars, he received a major award, being named Player of the Year.
“Juraj Slafkovsky has been named Slovak Hockey Player of the Year for the third time. In a close race, he edged out Martin Fehervary.”
He also won the title of Best Forward for the second consecutive year.
If Juraj Slafkovsky continues to develop well, he is expected to earn many more honors in the coming years. Congratulations, Juraj!
