Farmer Wants A Wife fans are lashing out at the show after producers brought in one of the biggest twists to the series this week. On Monday, Farmers Corey, Thomas and Tom, who all had three original women on their farms, were introduced to four new women, bringing their pool of potential love interests to seven.

Host Natalie Gruzlewski then told the farmers they could choose only five women to join them back at the farm, leaving the men to decide if they were going to continue to explore their relationships with their existing matches or opt to get to know some fresh faces. The move angered many viewers, who criticised the introduction of new women so far into the season, with one person arguing that it “ruins the show”.

“I don’t know if I like the idea of new ladies, as it doesn’t seem fair to current ones,” another added, while a third said, “Bringing more girls in is so wrong. I don’t agree with it. If you want all these girls, they should all be there in the beginning.”

Former Farmer Wants A Wife star Clare Hockings also previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that she agrees with viewers who believe the show is prioritising drama instead of genuine love stories, saying she wished it would return to its “older style”.

The unexpected twist came as a shock to all of he original women, with Emma from Farmer Tom’s farm telling Yahoo Lifestyle, “I knew it was coming eventually, like in every season, they’ve had intruders. Did I know there were going to be four intruders? No. Did I know that there was going to be an elimination round that night? Again, not really.”

She continues, “I think one of the hardest moments on the show is when you get lined up to get picked out of eight girls, and then five girls go back to the farm, because you do form friendships.”

Emma, who was sadly sent home that night, adds, “What people don’t see, like off-screen, you do form friendships with the other girls, and you bond with all of them.

“It is sad to find out there was an elimination round and you’ve got to pick between eight girls – I was not prepared for that, but that’s reality TV.”

Speaking about the producers, she says, “They’re trying to make a show, I feel like they have to keep viewers keen by having some drama.”

Emma continues, saying she thought she was walking into a “wholesome show”, adding, “I was just hoping to have a wholesome time, which I did, I certainly did have a really wholesome time, I was hoping to find love, which I didn’t. But I did find love in other ways, like I have amazing girlfriends now, and I wouldn’t change that for the world.”
