Two years after finding love on Farmer Wants A Wife, Farmer Matt Young and Olivia Benic will make a surprise return to the series in Tuesday night’s episode. The season 13 couple are one of a handful of success stories set to make a cameo appearance on the reality show and meet up with host Natalie Gruzlewski to discuss how their relationship has evolved since filming wrapped.

Olivia tells Yahoo Lifestyle that in addition to updating viewers on how she’s been enjoying life on the farm, her favourite part of the experience was filming with Nat. Although the show positions the host as ‘cupid’ who spends plenty of time getting to know the farmers and their contestants, Olivia reveals this isn’t exactly the case.

“It was actually nice filming with Nat, because when we were filming previously with Sam [Armytage] and Nat, they’re working. They’re not talking to us,” she details. “I think the mirage of them being heavily involved in knowing us has failed, because you actually don’t get to chat with them much.

“So I think when Nat came for the visit to the farm, when we hung out there for the day, it was the most time that we actually got to catch up. So that was nice.”

Olivia adds that it was “quite healing” returning to Farmer Wants A Wife without five other women vying for Matt’s attention, and there wasn’t as much pressure because she was aware of what to expect.

“We knew it would probably be a long day, the camera crew would need XYZ, but we were also a little bit more confident,” she shares. “We had [our son] Henry with us, so we were like, ‘Priority is Henry, if he needs to have a nap, we’re having a break’. So filming it again was actually quite enjoyable, it was a very different experience.”

Olivia’s experience filming a segment for Tuesday night’s episode is vastly different to that of Clare Hockings, who told Yahoo Lifestyle that she found it quite difficult filming with her partner, Farmer Brad Jones.

“It definitely brought it all back, being back in front of the camera. I’ve never really enjoyed it, and I was really reminded why,” she shared.

Clare explained that it was “a lot harder” filming her brief cameo compared to her original season because the producers had to work around her son’s schedule.

“They were trying to film cute things with Roy, and he was like, I don’t want to do that,” she recalled. “The other thing that was hard was when we were filming the show, we might have to repeat scenes over and over or repeat us walking up to where the date’s set up four or five times, and Roy didn’t want to do that.

“He didn’t want to walk up the road 10 times; he just wanted to do what he wanted to do. So it was definitely harder than normal.”

This year’s season of Farmer Wants A Wife is set to come to an end next week with all five farmers reuniting to unpack the highs and lows of their reality TV experience and reveal if they’re still with their partner.
