We are midway through Week 5 and the teams have finally realised they are in a competition.

Better late than never!

The day kicks off with a fundraising barbecue for This Is a Conversation Starter, a mental health charity offering free counselling to tradies, other blue collar workers and their families.

Co-founder Daniel Allen says he launched the charity with his former apprentice Ed Ross after losing one of his best mates to suicide, and the importance of the cause hits Sonny.

“When you think about men our age, it’s bad. I’m pretty lucky, I’m pretty in touch with my feelings, hence I can sit here and cry,” Sonny says.

“But there’s a lot of men who can’t.”

It might be a new day but Sonny and Alicia are still holding onto yesterday’s ‘copycat’ claims against Han and Can.

The betrayal has them thinking differently about the rest of the competition too.

Britt and Taz had asked the Cursio brothers to help them tile a wall in their challenge room, but as the Cursios are technically House 4’s tilers Sonny and Alicia veto that idea.

They aren’t going to help anyone else win the caravan they want so badly.

“That may mean they have a blank wall,” Adrian Cursio says.

“That’s not your problem,” Alicia replies.

Meanwhile, Emma and Ben have just hung up a very emotional phone call.

First of all, Emma is PREGNANT.

And secondly, they’ve just learned they’re having a baby boy.

It’s happy tears all around as they share their news with the cameras.

Scott Cam heads straight to House 1 to celebrate with the parents-to-be.

“I’m gonna be a grandfather again!” he laughs.

And the jokes just keep coming.

“A boy? Scotty!” he suggests a potential name.

We’ll have to wait and see about that one.

Down in House 5, Robby and Mat are getting a special artwork delivery from their friend, Adelaide-based Alyawarre artist Jade Torres.

They sent her photos of the Daylesford landscapes and she created a large, bespoke piece for their living room.

Everyone is full steam ahead with a lot to do today, including House 2’s Han and Can.

So, when an eagle-eyed Foreman Dan realises their flooring has been laid in the opposite direction to their bedrooms… well, it’s not ideal.

“This is a huge mistake,” Dan says.

He tells Can it is probably worth flipping the floors around, but she’s unconvinced.

She reasons that the kids’ rooms will have their doors closed, so you’ll never see the mis-matched floors at the same time.

Shelley Craft’s here and it’s walkarounds time!

With baby news and a copycat scandal to go over, it’s certainly a rollercoaster afternoon.

Han and Can tell the hosts about their plan to give up the $260,000 caravan if they win and Scotty is perplexed.

Scotty and Shell also reveal that everyone except House 2 have clocked Robby and Mat’s giant backyard hole, but the boys want to avoid confirming their suspicions for as long as possible.

All this chat of ‘secret weapons’ has Ben thinking outside the box.

What if House 1’s secret weapon was a slide off their deck into their pool?

He’s joking. We think?

They run the idea past Foreman Dan, who laughs in their face.

This week, most of the teams have got commissioned dining tables from Christian Cole.

It’s delivery day and after a classic Taz blunder, the Blockheads get to work sanding and staining their tables.

House 5 have ordered a production table but Christian gives them tips on how to ‘dsitress it’, making it look a bit more bespoke.

And also offering Mat an outlook for any anger he may be hanging on to.

During walkarounds, Shelley invited one member of each team on a shopping trip to Freedom… which is obviously code for a challenge.

There is $5,000 up for grabs for whoever styles a lounge suite the best in just five minutes.

Cue lots of running.

Yet again, House 1 are “the kings and queens of coming second”, as Emma is named runner-up and Alicia takes out of the win.

It’s a much needed win for Alicia… and also a much needed loss for Mat, whose bitter rivals would’ve made him find his own way home if he’d managed three challenge wins in one week.

On Sunday night, it’s time for the biggest Room Reveal yet!

With secret weapons galore, the judges have a lot to process – assuming everyone can get their spaces finished on time.

Ooooh we can’t wait. See you there!
