“Big brother to my muma. Twin to my auntie Jen, amazing husband to my gorgeous aunty Sue, best dad to my amazing cousins and granddad to their exquisite kids/tribe. Beloved son of my grandma Rome.

Lucinda continued by writing a poem in memory of her Uncle Bruce.

It began: “Dear Uncle Bruce, Far from a goose, Adventurous, bold—A legend, truth be told.

“Of all my uncles, you’re top tier, A big-hearted bloke we hold so dear. With the world’s best wife by your side, You tackled life with grit and pride.

“A liver of life (and maybe some gin), With stories and laughs worn into your grin. Debates? You’d win ’em—with flair and fire, A straight-shooter, but never a liar.

“From footy fields to distant sands, You’ve shaken many, many hands. A joker, a thinker, a fair dinkum gent, Every moment with you—well spent.

“We love you, Bruce—you passed every test. You’ve lived like ten men… plus all the rest.”
