A 34-year-old model has given insight into her very public break-up with one of Australian media’s most influential figures.

Model Imogen Anthony is known for her epic runway appearances, showstopping Australian Fashion Week looks and all-round staple of Australia’s style scene.

But once upon a time she dated radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands, with the pair meeting when she was just 20 years old. There was about two decades between their ages.

Anthony appeared on the A Bit Rogue podcast, hosted by Skye Sydenham, to share what her life looked like now — and what happened when the pair broke up.

Sandilands and Anthony dated for almost nine years, and she said that the pair were now “cool” and there were “no hard feelings”.

But they were “absolutely not” when the relationship ended.

“We had nothing in place when we split,” she said, referring to any kind of legal document that would dictate assets in the event of a break-up. She added that there were still things that needed to be sorted out, but that she got the Southern Highlands farm property that they had together.

Ms Sydenham asked how Anthony felt about the fact that Sandilands had moved on. He married Tegan Kynaston in April 2023 after the couple welcome son Otto, 3, the year before.

“No, I’m happy for him. Everyone was like, ‘He doesn’t want kids and that’s why they’re not’ — I don’t want kids,” she said.

“I’ve got a farm full of animals, I’m good.”

Anthony said she and Sandilands met in the wake of his divorce from Tamara Jaber and that “neither of them expected it to go the way it did”.

Anthony said following her breakup with Sandilands, she wanted to date on her own terms. She never expected that the relationship she entered into would result in a Vegas wedding in 2022, which featured an Elvis impersonator and the bride walking down the aisle in lingerie.

She admitted she was “young and naive in a way”, but insisted she “knew what (she) was doing”.

“I was still pretty switched on,” she said.

“Don’t get me wrong there was still a big shift in the power but even over eight-and-a-half years, I never felt like that with him. He always made me feel equal.”

She also praised Sandilands’ involvement in Zambi Wildlife Retreat, which the couple both raised awareness and funds for.
