In the last few minutes, Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis was holding a press conference.

He was, of course, asked about his lineup for tonight’s big game against the Detroit Red Wings, and he mentioned the following:

“Martin St-Louis says David Savard could be able to play tonight, but not Emil Heineman.”

The Canadiens also announced a change, and it’s happening in net, as Samuel Montembeault will be the starter.

Jakub Dobes will return to the bench.

Martin St-Louis announces that Samuel Montembeault will be back in net and that David Savard could return to play

This will be a situation to monitor.

Regarding the ongoing question about whether or not Arber Xhekaj will be in tonight’s lineup, St-Louis responded and reiterated that David Savard could possibly return to action tonight.

We can therefore understand that the verdict for Xhekaj will depend on Savard’s status.

“Martin St-Louis says David Savard could return to the Habs’ lineup tonight against the Red Wings, but Emil Heineman will not.

Samuel Montembeault is in goal.”

Another major game for Martin St-Louis’ squad, in terms of standings and the playoff race

With a win tonight, the Canadiens could essentially secure their spot in the playoffs.

According to MoneyPuck, a regulation win would boost their chances of making the playoffs to 96.3%.

It’s shaping up to be an exciting night!
