In a summer typically reserved for quiet training and behind-the-scenes preparation, the Montreal Canadiens have made a move that has sent shockwaves through the hockey world.

While fans were still digesting the news of a fresh hiring within the organization, a much more mysterious story began to unfold—one that has left insiders whispering and supporters demanding answers.

The sudden, controversial dismissal of a long-standing and well-liked staff member has raised more questions than it has answered, with details still shrouded in secrecy and speculation.

As rumors swirl and emotions run high within the Canadiens’ ranks, many are left wondering what could possibly justify such an unexpected shakeup at this point in the off-season.

Was this a calculated decision, or is there more to the story than meets the eye? With key figures reportedly unhappy and the circumstances described as “murky,” this is not your typical coaching staff change.

The full truth remains hidden, but one thing is clear: something unusual is happening behind closed doors in Montreal, and the implications could be far-reaching. Stay with us as we dig deeper into this unfolding drama—because what’s been revealed so far is only the beginning.

A few days ago, we reported on an interesting hiring made by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.

Earlier this week, we indeed learned of the hiring of Quebec native Enrick Corneau as the Montreal Canadiens’ video coach.

That said, as reported by Maxime Truman today, this hiring came about due to a dismissal that was announced within the Canadiens organization in the middle of summer, and apparently, we’re talking here about a murky and controversial firing.

Éric Gravel was fired by the Montreal Canadiens, in the middle of summer

All the details are in Max’s article, but here’s an excerpt:

“The guy who was let go a few weeks ago is named Éric Gravel.

He had been working for the Habs since February 2015.

He was very well liked by Martin St-Louis and the team’s coaching staff.

As much for his competence as for his personality.

His dismissal is murky and from what I hear, there are several people internally who are unhappy about it.

The person in question himself believes he had no reason to be let go.”

Intriguing, all this..

Gravel had been working for the Montreal Canadiens since February 2015, he was well liked by everyone, and now he’s been dismissed and replaced in the middle of summer.

It’s quite unusual, but well, it’s difficult for me to comment too much without knowing the full story, which is indeed very murky.

More details to follow.
