We do indeed have a big last-minute rumor to report, and it involves the Montreal Canadiens.

The very reliable journalist from Columbus, Mark Scheig, has just reported that the 2026 National Hockey League draft would take place in Montreal, according to the rumor! Wow!

The 2026 NHL Draft would take place in Montreal!

See the publication from the Columbus journalist.

“Rumor has been Montreal. We’ll see if that holds up but we got NHL Draft dates.”

– Mark Scheig

Also see the original post from the well-regarded David Pagnotta, confirming the dates of this famous draft that would take place in Montreal.

“The 2026 NHL Draft will take place June 26-27, 2026

NHL President of Content & Events Steve Mayer just confirmed with us live on
SiriusXMNHL.

He added host city is not yet decided; goal is to finalize that by end of this calendar year.”

– David Pagnotta

Everything indicates that Gavin McKenna will be drafted at the Bell Centre, which is pretty incredible.

Obviously this is major, obviously this is fantastic news, but personally I consider it would be much better news if the draft were held in person (and not in a decentralized format).

Also note that Scheig’s information matches that of David Calabretta.

“The 2026 NHL draft will take place June 26-27. Location TBA, however, I heard talk of either Vegas or Montreal.” – David Calabretta

Clearly, the NHL and its various teams do enjoy coming to Montreal for the draft.

Details to follow.
