The NHL offseason is already buzzing with anticipation, and this summer promises to deliver even more drama as one of the league’s most coveted forwards edges closer to unrestricted free agency.

With the Stanley Cup Playoffs still unfolding and the spotlight shining brightly, all eyes have turned to Sam Bennett—a player whose relentless style and playoff pedigree have made him a household name among hockey fans. Rumors have been swirling for weeks about Bennett’s future, but now, a major twist has sent shockwaves through the hockey world.

As teams across the league scramble to strengthen their rosters and chase championship dreams, Bennett’s next move has become a headline-grabbing story. The gritty center’s performance this postseason has only intensified the speculation, and his value on the open market continues to soar.

While many franchises would love to add his unique blend of skill and toughness, it appears that the race for his signature may already be down to just two destinations. With July 1st fast approaching, the hockey community is holding its breath, waiting to see where Bennett will take his talents next—and which team will emerge as the big winner in one of the summer’s most intriguing free agent sagas.

We have a major development concerning a forward who is highly appreciated by Montreal Canadiens fans, the gritty Sam Bennett.

As reported by Marco Normandin (HABSolumentFan), Sam Bennett has reportedly already chosen his two finalist destinations for July 1st.

Believe it or not, that’s just over a month away, the day Bennett could become an unrestricted free agent, completely free to sign with any team he chooses.

Two Finalists to Sign Center Sam Bennett

It’s obvious that Sam Bennett is an attractive target for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton. He checks all the boxes. But the problem is, the Canadiens will absolutely not be the only team in the race for his services.

All teams can see that Bennett is a key piece on a roster that could potentially win a second straight Stanley Cup.

His value keeps climbing!

That said, the well-known John Shannon revealed that Bennett has just two teams on his list where he would agree to sign.

“Don’t waste your time.

It’s going to come down to two destinations.

He will play in Toronto or Florida.

That’s it.

It’s his decision.

He’s not entering free agency the same way as other UFAs.

He will play for the Panthers or the Maple Leafs.

We just don’t yet know which one.”

Wow! It would be incredible for a team like the Maple Leafs to land a player like Bennett.

Let’s not forget that Bennett is originally from Ontario, so there’s definitely a more logical “fit” with Toronto.

Bennett, 28, has racked up 14 points in 16 games so far during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
