The excellent Marco Normandin has just reported, exclusively, that the Montreal Canadiens have indeed made an initial decision regarding Zachary Bolduc.

According to his sources, Marc Bureau, the faceoff specialist hired by the Montreal Canadiens, has been given an immediate mandate (coming directly from Canadiens management) to work with Zachary Bolduc in the faceoff circle.

Well, well!

“I’m told that Marc Bureau, the Montreal Canadiens’ faceoff specialist, was specifically tasked by the team to help Zachary Bolduc improve his faceoff skills.

The two held an intense training session today on a rink in Quebec that focused solely on faceoffs.

Interesting..”

This doesn’t necessarily mean that Canadiens management intends to turn Zachary Bolduc into a centerman, or at least to move him back to center for the first time in a long while.

It possibly just means they plan to use him in faceoff situations, depending on the context.

Still, it’s an intriguing and interesting decision!

The request comes directly from Canadiens management, and it could provide Martin St. Louis with some important lineup options.

“Given the lack of left-shot centres on the Canadiens (outside of Newhook) this could alleviate the need for a LHC this summer, as those duties can be split.

Example: Each, a rightie, takes the right-side draws, while Bolduc, the leftie, takes the left-side draws.”

So this will be a storyline to follow this summer, especially at the upcoming Montreal Canadiens training camp-particularly if Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton aren’t able to acquire another left-handed center.
