A casting notice is seeking men in their 50s and 60s to become the new Golden Bachelor, as well as women who are ready to take part in the dating experiment. Applications are open to residents across the country, with the option to apply directly or nominate someone else.
The announcement comes just weeks before season one of the program is due to air. The inaugural season will feature Bear as Australia’s first Golden Bachelor, with Samantha Armytage confirmed as host.
Although Nine has not publicly confirmed the renewal, the early start to casting strongly indicates a second season is on the way. An official announcement is expected to be made at the network’s annual Upfronts presentation in October, where the broadcaster traditionally outlines its programming slate for the following year.
The Golden Bachelor is a spin-off of The Bachelor franchise, centred on second-chance romance and celebrating love later in life. The US format has proven a ratings success, prompting Nine to commission a local version in 2025.
Season one was filmed earlier this year in Sydney and will follow Bear’s journey as he meets a group of women who, like him, are looking for a meaningful relationship in their later years. In a casting call for the debut season last year, Nine described the series as a chance for participants to find “the last great love of your life”.

The decision to launch casting for season two before the first season airs highlights the network’s confidence in the format and its belief that Australian audiences will embrace the series.
