The Montreal Canadiens are no strangers to high expectations, especially when it comes to their newest stars making an impact on the ice. As the playoff atmosphere intensifies and every shift becomes more crucial, all eyes have turned to Ivan Demidov—a rising talent whose presence has already sent a surge of excitement through the fanbase.

Since joining the Canadiens, Demidov has found himself at the center of strategic line changes, skating alongside the likes of Alex Newhook and alternating wingers. Yet, it’s his recent partnership with Patrik Laine that has sparked a wave of speculation and intrigue among both analysts and supporters.

With the postseason underway and the stakes higher than ever, the chemistry between Demidov and Laine has become a hot topic in Montreal. Subtle remarks and candid moments during press conferences have only fueled curiosity about what this pairing could mean for the team’s playoff run.

As the Canadiens prepare to face off against formidable opponents, the potential of this dynamic line has become a focal point of conversation—raising questions, hopes, and expectations. Could this be the combination that gives Montreal the edge they need? The answers may soon unfold on the ice, where every play counts and new heroes are made.

Since his arrival with the Montreal Canadiens, Ivan Demidov has been paired with Alex Newhook. However, the other winger on his line has slightly varied, between Joel Armia and Patrik Laine.

Asked about this during a press conference earlier today, Demidov took the opportunity to send a subtle message, saying that he really enjoys playing with Patrik Laine (contrary to what some might think).

Ivan Demidov sends a subtle message saying he enjoys playing on a line with Patrik Laine

Here is his exact statement:

“I like playing with him.
He has good vision and a great shot.”

– Ivan Demidov on his experience with Patrik Laine.

These two were developing solid chemistry before MSL shortened the bench.

It’ll be interesting to see how they impact this upcoming series (against the Washington Capitals).

Clearly, Demidov enjoys playing with Laine and would like Martin St-Louis to keep them together.

Some fans in the comments believe Demidov is just saying that to be polite and to be a good teammate, but he sounds sincere to me.

We’re really looking forward to seeing what Demidov and Laine will do in this first-round playoff series against the Washington Capitals and Alex Ovechkin.

We can assume the top line will perform well, and we pretty much know what to expect from the Christian Dvorak and Jake Evans lines, so it’s really the performance of the Patrik Laine, Ivan Demidov, and Alex Newhook line that could make the difference.

I’m confident in them!
