As the hockey world buzzes with speculation, a stunning possibility is beginning to take shape—one that could send shockwaves through the NHL and rewrite the Montreal Canadiens’ future. Whispers are growing louder about the potential for Sidney Crosby, the legendary Pittsburgh Penguins captain, to make a blockbuster move north to Montreal. Despite Pittsburgh’s solid start to the season, rumblings behind the scenes suggest that the franchise’s playoff hopes may be fading, opening the door to a dramatic shift.

Recent developments have only fueled the fire. Crosby has reportedly met with his family and agent to discuss the next chapter of his storied career, while the Penguins’ front office faces tough decisions about their veteran core. But what would it actually take for Montreal to pry Crosby away from Pittsburgh? A respected Quebec journalist has just dropped a tantalizing hint, pointing to a name that few expected to enter the conversation.

On a popular podcast, the journalist revealed a trade scenario involving a rising Canadiens star and coveted draft picks—but the details remain shrouded in mystery. Could Montreal really pull off the unthinkable? What price would they have to pay for a generational talent? The answer may surprise you.

We’re starting to hear more and more talk about the possibility of seeing Sidney Crosby join the Montreal Canadiens.

Even though the Pittsburgh Penguins are having a good start to the season, most experts don’t expect them to make the playoffs, and it’s quite possible that the team’s general manager, Kyle Dubas, could begin considering trading some of his veterans.

We know that Crosby recently met with his family and agent to discuss his future. We also know that the former Toronto Maple Leafs GM will need his captain’s approval before moving forward with any potential trade, but a well-known Quebec journalist has just weighed in on the subject.

During a recent episode of the podcast Real Kyper & Bourne, Renaud Lavoie stated what Kent Hughes would have to offer the Pittsburgh Penguins to start trade talks regarding the acquisition of number 87.

Trade to bring Sidney Crosby to the Montreal Canadiens: David Reinbacher has just been brought into the discussion

As reported by the site DansLesCoulisses, the TVA Sports journalist suggested that the Canadiens would need to use David Reinbacher as bait to try to lure Crosby to Montreal.

“What’s interesting is that the journalist also commented on what it would cost to get the Kid out of Pittsburgh.

And that’s when he mentioned draft picks and David Reinbacher as pieces that could interest the Penguins.”

We can therefore conclude that if Kent Hughes wants to acquire Sidney Crosby, he might have to sacrifice his 2023 first-round pick.
