As we reported a few days ago, young Montreal Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson made a request to Kent Hughes.

It’s rare to see this, but Hutson isn’t playing any behind-the-scenes “games.”

He wants to stay in Montreal for as long as possible. He wants to sign a very long contract extension with the Canadiens this summer, and he stated this very publicly during his press conference on Friday.

During his own press conference today, the Canadiens’ general manager plainly stated that he heard the request made by Lane Hutson (live on television) during Friday’s media availability, and that he will contact his agent!

And today, Hughes announced during his presser that he will be reaching out to Lane Hutson’s agent.
