Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have had a very busy summer, and the team’s management recently confirmed another excellent signing.

It’s fair to say the Canadiens have had a great offseason in recent weeks.

The addition of Noah Dobson and Zachary Bolduc will really help the team remain competitive in the coming years.

Kent Hughes has proven that he can contribute to the team without compromising the future.

What’s more, he reaffirmed his strong work with his most recent signing.

Kent Hughes Signs Jayden Struble at a Bargain

Yesterday, the Montreal Canadiens announced the signing of Jayden Struble to a two-year contract with an annual value of $1.4125 million.

Former scout Grant McCagg made a statement regarding the GM’s excellent move:

“I honestly believe that if Struble had played for another team, say San Jose, over the past two years, he would have signed a deal worth over $4 million, maybe even $5 million long-term.

He was a victim of the numbers game in Montreal. The left side of the defense is really strong. Normally, he would have secured a spot as a regular on the team, but the Rookie of the Year (Lane Hutson) came in.

It’s a really nice problem for Montreal to have so many good young defensemen.”

It’s true that this type of young player could have signed for much more.

Kent Hughes really pulled off a great move.

The question now is: who will be the sixth defenseman between Struble and Xhekaj?

With training camp approaching quickly, we’ll have the answer soon.
