Louis Morissette is well known for not holding back, and he just made a bold statement that’s lighting up social media about Jakub Dobes.

Jakub Dobes on contract:

“I love playing in Montreal, I love living in Montreal, that’s amazing that I can stay for two more years[…] Getting a two-year one-way contract is a huge accomplishment. I’m really grateful that I’m able to have this contract.”

The native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, made the jump to North America in 2023-24, and in his first season with the Laval Rocket, he managed to maintain a 2.93 GAA and .906 save percentage in 51 games.

Last year, the Canadiens’ management decided to bring him up to the big club, and he shone on several occasions. In 16 games, Dobes finished with a 2.74 GAA and .909 save percentage.

At only 24 years old and with very little NHL experience, he stepped in as the Canadiens’ goalie during the playoffs last spring after an injury forced Samuel Montembeault to leave for the infirmary, and the 6’4″, 215 lb netminder was far from bad against the Washington Capitals.

Louis Morissette Criticizes Jakub Dobes and Claims He Won’t Be in the NHL in Two Years

As reported by the excellent Marco Normandin of HabsolumentFan, Louis Morissette made a statement about Jakub Dobes that definitely did not go unnoticed, and he doesn’t mince words.

According to him, the goalie is «crooked» in net, and in two years, he won’t be playing in the National Hockey League anymore. Here is an excerpt of what he said on the podcast Entre La Poire Et Le Fromage during a discussion with José Théodore:

“Me, Jakub Dobes, I find him crooked as hell*! He’s big, we’ll give him that, he takes up space. I saw Dobes a couple of times in Laval, yes he’s spectacular, he moves left to right and slides into impossible positions, sometimes he’s turned his back to the play and people freak out and say “Did you see the save!?”

Did you see the save But damn, he just needed to move less and he would have caught it on the chest!

I admit I told a buddy that in two years he won’t be playing in the league anymore.”
