It’s a great day to be a fan of the Florida Panthers. While the defending Stanley Cup champions went astray for a brief period, dealing with back-to-back defeats, the Panthers made a decisive comeback against the Boston Bruins, and while it did face an intermediate loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins, a shutout victory against the Vegas Golden Knights has proved why Florida may truly be on its way to becoming a dynasty.

The Golden Knights currently lead the Pacific Division with 12 points. Former Toronto Maple Leafs standout Mitch Marner has accumulated ten points in eight games with the Knights this season. However, following the humbling defeat at the Panthers’ hands, the 28-year-old has not escaped social media tribulations.

Social Media Comes for Mitch Marner After Vegas Golden Knights’ Humbling Defeat

The Panthers absolutely dominated the Golden Knights 3-0, marking veteran goalie Sergei Bobrovsky’s 50th career shutout. The netminder stopped all 17 shots, and just like that, Vegas was handed its first regulation defeat this season.

“I thank God for the journey. I thank the players that I’ve played with and the coaches that I’ve been coached [by]. I’m excited about future. It’s all in the past, and I’m excited about next game.” Bobrovsky expressed his genuine emotions after the career-defining win.

On the other hand, social media erupted with discourse about the battle, much of it involving standout winger Marner. “mitch marner and getting owned by the panthers nothing new,” posted one social media user.

Another NHL fan, drawing upon previous episodes from previous seasons, spoke up about Marner’s vulnerability to the Florida outfit. “Florida owns Mitch Marner regardless of which team he’s on,” commented a second fan. To offer their blunt opinion, a social media user drew upon Marner’s previous record of underwhelming performance during the playoffs. “Marner can’t get it done vs a playoff team smdh.”

Another X user spared Marner but directed their attention to the Panthers and Knights overall: ” The Panthers shutting the Knights out like only evil can beat evil.”

The Golden Knights are undoubtedly in tremendous form this season, and their defeat by the Panthers is nothing but an aberration. Marner’s record with the team so far has also been enviable. However, Florida is also adamant about securing dynasty status, and its performance against the Knights went a long way toward showing the elite level at which the team can produce.
