The possibility of Sidney Crosby donning the Montreal Canadiens jersey is a topic that continues to ignite passionate debates across Quebec’s hockey circles. With every passing season, the idea seems to gain new life—fuelled by rumors, expert opinions, and the collective dream of fans eager to witness a generational superstar skating at the Bell Centre.
Recently, this fantasy was given fresh momentum when respected analyst Antoine Roussel weighed in on what it might actually cost the Canadiens to land Crosby in a blockbuster trade. His assessment? The price would be nothing short of staggering, involving some of Montreal’s most promising young talents and valuable draft capital.
As speculation swirls and the hockey world watches closely, questions abound: Is such a trade even realistic? Would Crosby himself consider leaving Pittsburgh after two decades of loyalty? And most importantly, would the Canadiens be willing to pay the steep price required to make this historic move a reality? As the summer approaches and NHL rosters begin to shift, the Crosby-to-Montreal saga remains one of the most intriguing storylines to follow—one that could reshape the future of both franchises in ways few could have imagined.

Expert Antoine Roussel, notably from TVA Sports, has just proposed a potential price the Canadiens would have to pay to acquire Sidney Crosby in a trade.
And it’s an extremely high price.
As you know, across the media in Quebec, many dream of seeing Sidney Crosby join the Montreal Canadiens.
It’s true that seeing him alongside Ivan Demidov would be absolutely incredible-but I find it hard to believe.
Still, this is a topic that refuses to die down for the moment.
Antoine Roussel Weighs In on the Price the Montreal Canadiens Would Have to Pay to Acquire Sidney Crosby in a Trade
According to Roussel, if Kent Hughes wants to pull off a trade for Crosby, he’ll have to give up a lot.
“According to Antoine Roussel, on the Sortie de zone podcast, it would cost something like: Juraj Slafkovsky, Logan Mailloux, and at least one of this year’s two first-round picks.” – DLC
He explains his point in more detail in this episode of Sortie de zone.
And you, would you make that trade?
Personally, I still believe that if Crosby is ever traded, it will be on his own terms, and for that reason, the price won’t be that steep.
At 37 years old (38 in August), the Pittsburgh Penguins’ captain has a major decision ahead of him. We know about his love for Montreal, but realistically, it still seems unlikely that he’ll leave the team he’s played with for 20 years!
Will his hunger to make the playoffs outweigh his loyalty to the Pittsburgh Penguins?
This will be a story to watch this summer!
