We have a signing to announce within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
In the last few minutes, due to injuries suffered by players like Joel Armia and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, as well as the current lack of organizational depth, the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate has just announced the signing of Will Dineen.
Signing Alert: Kevin Dineen’s Son Joins the Canadiens Organization and the Laval Rocket
A new player has now entered the Montreal Canadiens’ system and becomes an option.
If the name Dineen sounds familiar, that’s completely normal, as Will is indeed the son of Kevin Dineen, a Quebec-born forward who played over 1,000 games in the National Hockey League.
Will, 24 years old, is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward who has been playing with Yale University since the 2021-22 season.
This season, he recorded 18 points in 30 games, finishing as his team’s second-leading scorer.
In his last USHL season, he collected 25 points and 122 penalty minutes in 51 games with the Sioux Falls Stampede.
Kevin, now 61 years old, is originally from Quebec (Quebec) and amassed 760 points in 1,188 career NHL games, including 355 goals.
He also accumulated 2,229 penalty minutes over the course of his long career, which ended in 2003 with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Kevin Dineen also served as the head coach of the Florida Panthers from 2011 to 2014 before becoming an assistant coach with the Chicago Blackhawks (2014-2019).
He is currently the head coach of the Utica Comets, the AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils.
