TVA Sports journalist, Renaud Lavoie, had new information to share after last night’s game.

Obviously, the highly anticipated showdown between Canada and the United States started in a rather unexpected and entertaining way, with three fights happening in literally less than nine seconds of play.

The two Tkachuk brothers dropped the gloves, along with J.T. Miller facing off against Colton Parayko.

They said things would get heated, and they kept their word.. It definitely got heated!

Regarding Renaud Lavoie’s information, he mentioned that an incident, one that the Americans consider very serious, occurred before the game and is the real reason behind those fights.

They wanted to send a strong message.

“According to Renaud Lavoie, the American players knew that the crowd would disrespect the American anthem, and that’s one of the reasons that explain the three fights at the start of the game!”

That certainly puts things into perspective.

“There’s a reason behind it [the three fights in nine seconds]. Matthew mentioned it, but in a vague way, so we didn’t fully understand at first. But what I can tell you now is that they knew the American national anthem would be disrespected in this game, and that does not sit well in the U.S. locker room. They absolutely wanted to respond.

Everyone on Team USA agreed to initiate fights right at the beginning of the game, and that’s why it happened.”
